Kevin Anderson: "The Uncomfortable Link Between Climate and Equity" | The Great Simplification #82
Let me just say this.:
Ugh!
I’m posting this while having just listened to a bit of it. But the conversation is between two folks I like and appreciate a lot. And the situation isn’t looking very good at all. — JRM, editor
I loved it. I love Kevin Anderson, he's one of those people who makes me think maybe cloning could be a good thing. And I'm moving more and more to the equity questions of addressing the polycrisis--too many of Hagens' guests, and he himself, talk like "it's all of us." And it IS all of us--but some of us a LOT more than others, and so far the most guilty pay the least price. Many proposed solutions are designed to perpetuate the status quo, the privileges of the rich. To get to a decent future world, we HAVE to break through their power, form an alliance of the 99%--the GLOBAL 99%. And KA isn't hopeless--Hagens is, with his attitude that we are parts of a mindless entity driven to maximize energy consumption and have no choice.
Putting at least 50 per cent of all corporate profits into climate crisis mitigation might be a start! Understanding that evolution is collaborative not competitive might shift human consciousness. Being Earth centric rather than human centric is the truly revolutionary spiritual transformation needed in a world where a mere 400 years of empire, sucking profit from others living and the Earth's fossil fuels , is suicidal, self destructive, destroying your own being at multiple isomorphic levels! Hardly simplistic..
