We’re living in a remarkable time, a time which calls for profoundly re-imagining what it means to be a revolutionary, an artist, a philosopher….
A time to re-imagine categories of every basic kind. And there is no family which does this more coherently than the artist, poet and philosophical family known as Artist as Family. For a long time now they have been sharing a vision of human potentials which profoundly inspires my heart.
I define philosophy as “the love of wisdom.” It’s an ancient definition, and it’s good enough for me.
Art blends with philosophy nicely, as does poetry. This family is living it. And for this we should all be grateful — especially because they’ve been freely sharing their abundant gifts with the rest of us. And they do so with an obvious and abundant love for Life!
What is a poem? What is a song? Let’s imagine it widely, broadly, and … ideally, barefoot. Provided the weather is good for bare feet.
A song from Artist as Family, fruiting like a mushroom as the unique written voice of Patrick Jones (performed by Athony Petrucci), who would not like to be thought a hero, but who is certainly my hero anyway, as with his entire family.:

"Creatures of Place is an insight into the wonderful world of Artist as Family: Meg Ulman, Patrick Jones, and their youngest son, Woody. Living on an urban 1/4-acre section in a small Australian town, Meg and Patrick have designed their property using permaculture principals."
