First a quick word about urgency.
Israel’s military has delivered sweeping evacuation orders for almost half of Gaza’s 2.3 million people before an expected ground offensive aiming to eradicate the Hamas militant group after its unprecedented assault on Israel and the seizure of dozens of hostages.
In the blockaded enclave, the evacuation notice issued in the early hours of Friday sent panic through civilians and aid workers already struggling under intense Israeli airstrikes, and a blockade in which no food, fuel or medical supplies is being allowed in. The UN considers the tightened siege a war crime. — The Guardian Newspaper
Until this morning, I didn’t think there was any possibility of stopping the ground assault … and the violent deaths of enormous numbers of people. Now I think there is some hope of preventing it. But, in all honesty, I believe this hope hinges on a single essay I read this morning. Specifically, nearly everyone in Israel and Palestine will have to know of this essay, with hundreds of millions of people around the world reading (or listening to) this essay over the next day or two.
The essay—and Charles’ message in the essay—will have to become a top news story, an historical document, a world event! And this must all happen very quickly.
Here’s the essay:
Hamas, Israel, and the Devil on my Shoulder, by Charles Eisenstein
I’m asking you (reader) to help me make this message and essay “go viral” as quickly as possible.
We can use the discussion space below to work out ideas about strategies to accomplish this task.
I thought of trying to get Democracy Now! to do an interview, and pushing for that as part of a process of getting Charles’ message out big and fast, but Charles just told me that while he’d do anything to stop the ensuing madness, he doesn’t think it likely that Amy Goodman and Democracy Now! will be onboard with an interview.
Please send a copy of Charles Eisenstein's essay to Friends Committee on National Legislation and American Friends Service Committee.
At this location one can find contacts for the various radio shows at KPFA radio station, which has a vast audience. https://kpfa.org/contact/ Surely one of these radio shows would be interested in considering an interview with Charles on the topic of his essay. Let's encourage this.
