It helped me to more deeply understand what The State really is, which is an engine built for the purpose of maintaining the present class system, in which there are very distinct "social classes" (also "economic classes" who happen also to be the protectors and maintainers (reproducers) of what is sometimes called "the political class" and which also is sometimes called "the ruling class". Of course, not everyone in the "political class" is in the "ruling class," per se, but as we can readily see, by the typical definition of the political class in functional terms, they may as well be.
