That's moving to read James, and courageous of you to say it. Such feelings are very important. It's the network of deep connections such as this that enables us to keep going. It's a medicine for the toxic individualism of heroic journey narratives that we've all been fed and have absorbed. Ubuntu!
Thanks for sharing this, James. I ordered Dougald's book a few weeks ago so it should be arriving soon. Coincidentally, I finished reading Hospicing Modernity yesterday. Dougald is quoted in the final chapter of that extraordinary book. I get the sense that their minds are very close, which is quite an achievement because Vanessa takes no hostages. I have now subscribed to Dougald's newsletter, so thanks for pointing me to that. My journey has brought me to these two, as suitable mentors for now. It's powerful and affirming to find such visionaries in these dark times.

I could not agree more! Vanesssa and Dougald are friends, as I understand it. And now I want to read Hospicing Modernity, too, as clearly Dougald thinks very highly of the book and the person.
I don't want to embarrass Dougald overly much with my feeling toward him, but -- quite honestly -- his words and presence now feel to me like a balm in a time of long and protracted grief and confusion. I only have to hear his voice and I regain my senses and orient to a world of "unimaginable" possibility. Like no one else in my world at this time he just plain makes sense to my mind and heart. He feels far too familiar, given that I've never even met the man.
Your presence in this world also comforts me, Andy!

Well said my brother. Thanks for being you!
