Your poetry moves me more than your academic writing..maybe because it opens my heart and my vision together..” the nearness of deer”ripples through generations of my ancestors. It rekindles hope at the roots..thank you, James, may this new year bring you what your spirit needs
I had to laugh a little at the idea that my "non-poetry" writing here might be considered "academic" -- in the sense of the sort of writing which occurs in academia. LOL. It would not be accepted in academia! LOL. It's much too rough and sloppy.
it is full of bigger words and more abstract ideas than that used by most deer of my acquaintance! I find poetry reaches me at a more integral level..body, mind, Spirit..
Well, I'm both a philosopher and a poet, by inclination. I value each enormously. They typically work very differently from one another. But my philosophical and poetic inquiries are similar in intention. I'm seeking to elucidate and illuminate a naturalistic, basically phenomenological mystical worldview steeped in relational ontology. I do this in my poetry and in my prose.
This thread helped me to find the words for the piece I sent out just now called Talking Landscapes. Blessings to you, brother James.
Beautiful.

Thanks Eimear! My writing seeks to be as much like a deer crossing a meadow as a pen dipped in ink.

Thank you for this beauty, James.
Ah, fellow animal brother! I knew you'd appreciate this poem inspired by our fellow animal brother, David Abram! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npQ18V1BDik&t=931s
May your days and nights be round. May your whole life be round!
Thank you for the DA nudge. I have felt a little bit far away from him recently. It's good to circle back.
He lives in my neck of the woods, pretty much just down the road a bit. He's as delightful in person as he is in print and on YouTube.
